Hungarian Grade School in Recsk

We started the day off in an unusual way, with a very interesting visit to a local Hungarian Grade School. We met with a teacher and she told us about her students and what they study. In fourth grade they start learning a second language (normally English or German). In sixth grade they take a third language, normally German of English (the one they didn't take in the fourth grade.

We followed our studies with a very tasty lunch in the school cafeteria.

Kohari Winery

July 1st, was a special day, Bobbi's Birthday, and what better place to spend it, than a Hungarian Winery. It was an absolutely beautiful day and our host and hostess welcomed us and explained about the wines we would be tasting. The wines were delicious, with plenty to go around. We were all smiling and laughing. Then we learned the Hungarian toast "Egészségére!" (for your health). This was one of the few foreign phrases we still remember from the trip and we use it every time we have wine. Next came the singing. They sang some Hungarian folk songs and I think one was their version of Happy Birthday. Now that we were feeling loose, we started dancing. What a great time we had.
